Quick Assist

Overview: Quick Assist is a Windows 10 app that enables two people to share a computer over a remote connection so that one person can help solve problems on the other person’s computer. To launch the app, type “Quick Assist” in the search box on the Windows task bar, and select the Quick Assist app.

Problem Definition: Studies conducted by the research team found out that when users experienced an issue with a Microsoft product or service, they first tried to search for a solution on the internet or ask their friends and family for assistance. This research lead the team to explore options of how might we help our customers collaborate remotely with someone they trusted to get their issues resolved.

Target Audience: Anyone who uses a Microsoft product or service. Customers can be the general public (students and professionals) as well as corporate buyers.

My Role: I collaborated with the Program Manager to understand the parameters within which we were expected to design. During our discussions, we explored the various ways (offline and online) in which a code could be communicated between two users to establish a remote connection, and once the connection was established, how the person providing help can annotate on the shared screen. I contributed towards refining the workflows for both the scenarios (receiving help and providing help) and created wireframe iterations to bring clarity to the process of establishing connection and annotating. I created the visual design comps and the redline specs based on the Microsoft visual design guidelines.
